    The Swiggle Approacheth!
Well, here comes another Swiggle. Seems to have come around quite quickly this time! As usual, we've got a new song to perform, although this is a filk of another song, rather than purely our own material. It's difficult for me, because the song I have to sing is outside of my normal range in either one direction or the other, depending on where I try and sing it. But hey, it's all good fun, so we'll do our best and see what happens. I just hope all you loyal Dragster fans out there enjoy it!

In other news, working on teh new set continues at... well... rather a slower pace than I was hoping at this point. But there's plenty of time left, so hopefully we'll pick up soon. We just seem to have both hit a case of writers block. In the meantime, I'm working on rounding off the Dragster site on Sanctuary with all our lyrics, although the server has been down a lot recently, which I am hoping will be fixed soon.

That's all for now. Take care, stay cool, and hopefully see you Saturday!

    First Swiggle of 2005
Well, the first Swiggle since Dixseption has come and gone. Not much activity for Dragster this time around, partially due to me having to leave early to take [info]doran_eirok to the airport the next morning, and partially because (for the period I was there) people seemed to be more interested in chatting than singing. Not that it was a bad occasion, as far as I'm aware a good time was had by all. And there was one Dragster song on show - "Dalek Invasion" - cunningly (luckily?) timed to coincide with the advent of the Daleks in the new Doctor Who series.

The new song was sung twice, the second time around for people who simply had to hear it but weren't there the first time (sorry - we were so excited we couldn't wait!). I was also very gratified at the amount of praise "1960's Future" was getting. Both myself and [info]qyfd wrote the bulk of it, so it is most certainly a joint song, but I feel proud to have come up with the original concept, and it makes me more confident about our future endeavours to hear people talking about our songs three months after the event.

Swiggle also brought another happy event. We got a copy of the recording made of our Dixseption performance, kindly recorded and cleaned up by [info]keristor, who we had the pelasure of performing part of our set with. The recording rocks, we're very grateful, and it's actually the first time I've heard myself singing and not hated the result. I think I sounded mostly okay. That's a major landmark for me!

So on we go to our next major event - the next Swiggle in three months time. I'm hoping that productivity for our next set will ramp up in the meantime. We've got to get moving on it, though we do have a good number of songs on the boil so I'm not worried.

It's weird how these creative bursts can hit me. I haven't really written anything decent in months, and yet, within the space of a couple of lunchtimes at work, I've come up with a pretty good new song, complete with music for the lyrics. It's rare that I can ever really put words to music as completely as I managed with this one.

All that's really left is for [info]qfyd to put chords to it and it'll be more or less ready, save for polishing and practising. I hope this streak continues, we've got a few more songs to go before we can start to construct our next set, but I suppose we've got a few months before that becomes an issue!

Oh, what's the new song called? All right, just for you faithful Dragster fans: "The Power of a Song". I hope you'll like it when you hear it!

On February 7th 2005, Dragster performed at the 17th UK Annual Filk Convention, Dixseption, and were awarded the "Best at Con" award for "Gandalf the Red", as well as being nominated for the "Best Silly" award for "1960's Future" and "Dreams". Needless to say, for our first real performance, that kind of recognition really blew us away.

    This is what happened next...
